Chronic sinusitis and rhinitis respond well to MLD treatment, because of its edema-reducing effects on the mucus membranes as well as the positive influence on the immune system. It also reduces the symptoms in cases of therapy-resistant allergic pollinosis (hay fever).

When Should You Book a Lymphatic Massage to Manage Your Allergic Rhinitis or Sinusitis Symptoms?
Being proactive and coming in for a massage before you are in the midst of an allergic reaction or sinusitis flare up is always best. So, aim to book your treatment well before allergy season starts or when your sinusitis symptoms are at the mildest, so your immune system is primed before you start to experience more severer symptoms.
However, if you are already experiencing heightened symptoms, waiting a week or two to receive a lymphatic massage is a good idea. Why? Because, having an MLD treatment when your symptoms are more acute or intense, will initially cause an uptick in the levels of fluid your system has to process while it’s already compromised and working hard. And dealing with the increased congestion caused by this rise in fluid is very likely cause any symptoms you are experiencing to get much worse before they get better.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is never a good idea to have an MLD treatment when you have an active acute (green/yellow mucus) sinus infection or an acute allergic reaction (i.e. hay fever). Doing so may move the histamines from the local allergy response, or the infectious agents in the case of a sinus infection, throughout your body and leave you feeling even worse after your treatment.
